Kalaghar is our creative wing that organizes workshops and events every 2nd or 4th Saturdays of each month. It is dedicated to stir exploration and engagement on environmental and social issues through art, creativity and dialogue.
As the name suggests ‘Kala Ghar’ means ‘Art House’, envisioned to provide space for potential writers, artists and thinkers to lead workshops/talks/discussions for communities and children. Local artists like Suveksha Pradhan, Carien Rai and Ashok Rai generously volunteer their time to conduct regular sessions for children and young adults. We've also had Dr. Smriti Basnett a glaciologist, and Sartaj Singh, a wildlife biologist and conservationist artist for a special session on climate change immediately after the devastating Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) event of September 2023. Recently Hemlata Pradhan, a renowned botanical artist from Kalimpong led a workshop for students from five government schools on nature journaling.
