Reading Facilitation Training Programme

The Reading Facilitation Training Programme is the inhouse training programme designed to support the growth and professional development of the reading teachers. It introduces research backed pedagogical and teaching strategies to effectively engage children into developing their skills to read, write and promote love for books.

The training is led by Reshma Thapa-Gurung, the director of the foundation who is also a teacher trainer, children’s writer and an educator by profession. The training began in March 2021 with the purpose to build capacity for our team to support the reading and writing abilities of the children who came to the library and those connected through the Reading For Joy.

The training is centered around strategies that would provide a stress-free learning environment. Child-centered methods and hands-on learning activities are used to focus on active learning and understanding rather than rote learning. The children are encouraged to raise questions and share their thoughts and ideas. The activities designed are based on reading levels to provide focused reading support.
