Our vision is to nurture a reflective society by reimagining learning spaces as a catalyst for collective change. We believe in the transformative power of books and libraries not just as tools for literacy but as portals for imagination, empathy and lifelong learning. We envision a future where every child and youth in our communities has access to rich and diverse reading experiences that foster social and environmental consciousness. Grounded in the region’s unique cultural and ecological landscape, we aspire for thoughtful spaces and opportunities to connect with oneself, our communities and the wider world as reflective, curious and responsible citizens. Through literature, art, research and advocacy focused on history, development, environment, and politics, we strive to cultivate a thriving ecosystem of meaningful dialogue, critical engagement and creative expression in the Eastern Himalaya.
Our mission is to foster a culture of reading, reflection, and responsible citizenship among children and youth in Sikkim. We provide free and inclusive access to books, resources, and dynamic spaces for learning and creative exploration. Through a well-equipped community library and programmes rooted in literacy, we aim to strengthen language competence and spread the joy of reading among children. We are committed to working along with children, educators, artists and researchers in our communities to build competence for social engagement and environmental awareness through literature, artistic expression, creativity and open dialogue. We strive to produce accessible and reflective content for critical social engagement through our research and advocacy encompassing Sikkim, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and the Doars regions. Finally, we collaborate and support like-minded grassroots initiatives, organisations and research groups working towards equitable and sustainable development in the Eastern Himalayas.
